Our Story

Agriculture Improvement Support Services (AGRISS) was founded in 2015 with a mission to empower smallholder farmers and vulnerable communities in Kenya. Recognizing the significant role agriculture plays in the country’s economy and the challenges faced by rural farmers, AGRISS was established to bridge the gap between agricultural potential and farmer empowerment. Our journey began in Homabay County, and over the years, we have expanded our operations across seven counties in Western Kenya, impacting thousands of households.

Our story is driven by a belief that sustainable development can only be achieved when farmers are placed at the center of agricultural system development. By fostering farmer-led research networks and building strong farmer organizations, AGRISS has enabled farmers to actively participate in designing and implementing solutions tailored to their unique challenges. This participatory approach ensures that solutions are practical, sustainable, and impactful.

Over the years, AGRISS has diversified its programs to include nutrition-sensitive agriculture, climate change advocacy, and integrated support for orphans and vulnerable children. Through strategic partnerships with local and international organizations, we continue to empower communities with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to improve livelihoods and promote resilience. Our story is one of growth, collaboration, and unwavering commitment to equity and wellness in society.
